Sun Sash - Filling

Filling

There is a God shaped vacuum in the heart of every man which cannot be filled by any created thing, but only by God, the Creator, made known through Jesus.

Sun Sash - Reconstruction

Reconstruction
Destroy this temple, and I will build it up in three days.
~Jesus

In 1915 the Turkish government ordered the systematic annihilation of the Armenian population. April 24 marks the beginning of the Armenian Genocide.

Ninety-eight years later we remember the Armenian Genocide as the first Genocide in modern history. The evil of Genocide has continued through the Holocaust and in countries such as Cambodia, Rwanda and now Darfur.

Last night, at a commemorative service at the St. Leon Armenian Cathedral, bringing together Armenians in the Southern California area, His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian remembered in his sermon, "'Destroy this temple, and I will build it up in three days' were the words of Jesus that the Armenian martyrs recited." It is the promise of resurrection.

Listen to some analysis of this year's commemoration at www.epostle.net - the Next Step.

Sun Sash - Awareness

Awareness
A man's ethnic identity has more to do with a personal awareness than with geography.
~William Saroyan

Some more?
I am interested in madness. I believe it is the biggest thing in the human race, and the most constant. How do you take away from a man his madness without also taking away his identity? ~William Saroyan

Civilization
Jesus wept; Voltaire smiled. From that divine tear and from that human smile is derived the grace of present civilization.

Next Step #254: Finding God in the chaos. Fr. Vazken unravels the events of the week, which included the worst of the worst - domestic violence, terrorism and Genocide - and even finds God as the antithesis of chaos.  Don't be afraid to point him out, he says. Datev Outreach, the Boston Marathon bombing, and the screening of Bared Maronian's "Orphans of the Genocide" are woven together in this interesting journey from chaos to order. It is a mystery and it is deep.
